Hermes Abrasives is one of the Top 10 Companies of Chemical Industry
Hermes Abrasives, located in Hamburg-Lurup, is one of Germany‘s Best Apprenticing Companies 2017. This conclusion was reached by a study conducted nationwide by Deutschland Test and the business magazine Focus Money. With the collaboration of Prof. Dr. Werner Sarges, founder and head of the Institute for Management-Diagnosis near Hamburg, 2,000 companies with the largest number of employees have been assessed. Therefore the in-company training quality has been analyzed based on three criteria with different priorities: training success (60 percent), structural data of training (30 percent) plus training wages (10 percent). To enhance comparability different sector conditions were considered. 940 companies have been taken into account.
„We are delighted to be among the top 10 of chemical industry“, says Dr.-Ing. Jan Cord Becker, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hermes Schleifmittel. „It is not without a sense of pride that we note: we were awarded as the only abrasive manufacturer.“
Particularly in the field of individual supervision Hermes scored heavily due to its extensive apprentice support program. For many years the company has been actively involved for low-skilled school leavers as well as for trainees from a migrant background. „In our view companies that provide training places are additionally supposed to take over an educational responsibility“, explains Gabriele Braun-Herzog, personnel development. „This is why we support especially young people with difficult initial conditions to find their way best possible.”
From 10 training places at the beginning of 2017 actually three are still vacant: Hermes is looking for one trainee IT specialist/ application developer (m/f), one trainee chemical production specialist (m/f) and one trainee chemical laboratory technician (m/f). In 2018 six new training places will be provided.
