Jan Cord Becker, CEO of Hermes Schleifmittel GmbH, elected as New President of FEPA

FEPA Confirms Jan Cord Becker and Stefan Sjöberg to the Leadership of its Management Committee

During FEPA Annual Conference in Lisbon, Portugal, members have confirmed Dr. Jan Cord Becker, CEO of Hermes Schleifmittel GmbH, a German manufacturer of coated, bonded, and superabrasives, as the President of FEPA from 2020-2018. He will be assisted in his role by the new Vice-President elected, Mr. Stefan Sjöberg, CEO of Mirka Ltd., a Finnish abrasives and tools manufacturer.

When he took office, Jan-Cord Becker summarised his strategic vision for the next two years in three objectives: To promote European quality products, to listen to members and to reinforce the collaboration within the Federation.

"“I would particularly like to foster the European philosophy of quality products”, said Becker, who is absolutely convinced that this is the primary asset of FEPA members. “We have so much to offer in the global world. In addition to quality and safety, we have the highest environmental and social standards worldwide, which correspond to our social values such as respect and responsibility.”

Becker also highlighted the strength of the numerous and, above all, so diverse members and stressed how important the exchange, discussion and constructive collaboration of the members are for the success of FEPA. “We are enriched and complemented by a variety of cultures and perspectives which give us the energy to achieve together any goal we have set ourselves!”

Stefan Sjöberg echoed Dr. Becker’s first objective and emphasized the importance to enhance strategy and communication efforts within the FEPA to promote European values and communicate their relevance. He also rallied the troop by challenging them when he stated: “We can do more to support European Abrasives producers.”

DDoing more has been FEPA’s motto by focusing on increasing the decision makers of its member companies to get more involved. The Annual Conference set the stage for a year rich in technical and communication projects. As the outgoing president, Jean-Philippe Guyot, said: “FEPA membership as a whole is ready to mold FEPA into a faithful advocate for the issues that may arise from an ever-evolving market.”
