Highest surface quality and precision in fine grinding thanks to innovative Hermes CERMIC fine grain grinding tools
Hermes Schleifmittel GmbH presents a new product for fine grinding. The CERMIC fine-grinding bonded abrasives are vitrified bonded and are produced specifically for each individual application meet the current requirements of the industry, are universally applicable and guarantee high surface qualities in the range of Rz <1 µm.
The industry's demands for surface quality and accuracy of workpieces are constantly increasing.
There are many reasons for this:
- Increasing demands on service life and load-carrying capacity, e.g. in machine and motor construction
- Uncompromising functionality, e.g. for surgical instruments or in the field of precision mechanics
- Perfect optics, e.g. in the jewellery and watch industry, sports equipment or in the steel trade
- Need for grinding solutions that can be adapted to the conditions of new materials.
As a result, the industry is focusing on process steps that follow the classic custom grinding (Rz < 3 µm). With the new Hermes CERMIC fine-grain abrasives and the already established MICROLITE polishing tools, Hermes Schleifmittel offers two products that are precisely tailored for these applications.
The versatile Hermes CERMIC tools were developed for fine grinding with Rz values < 1 µm and for high-precision applications. The grain fineness of these ceramic bonded tools reaches down to the single-digit micrometer range. Newly developed manufacturing processes allow specific coordination with the respective performance requirements and guarantee that CERMIC products work very precisely and produce extremely high-quality surfaces, while maintaining the most demanding dimensional and shape tolerances.
Hermes MICROLITE polishing wheels as the perfect complement
Hermes MICROLITE polishing wheels are ideal for polishing workpieces in addition to or instead of fine grinding. Due to their excellent adaptability, these elastic polyurethane wheels guarantee the highest de-mands in terms of gloss and fineness with high dimensional accuracy of the specified workpiece surfaces.
Both tool types make optimum use of the potential of all common machine types and can be used univer-sally because they are designed for specific applications. This is done in close cooperation between the experts at Hermes Schleifmittel and its customers. A Hermes team of experienced application engineers supports customers worldwide in the analysis of their existing grinding processes and requirements in order to manufacture appropriate tools and continuously optimise the results in close cooperation with them.
